Important: Google Will Penalize Ad Heavy Page.

This is an important news for blogger friends, especially those who make money blogging. According to search engine land. Google will penalize Ad Heavy Page this of course include blogs.

An excerpt from the post

The head of Google’s web spam team, Matt Cutts, shared the news when speaking at the Pubcon conference today.

Cutts said Google is testing algorithms that determine ”what are the things that really matter, how much content is above the fold.”

Adding further, Cutts warned:

“If you have ads obscuring your content, you might want to think about it,” asking publishers to consider, “Do they see content or something else that’s distracting or annoying?” - searchengineland


I do realize that there are many blog that are full of ads until a level that there are more ads than content. If your blog are like that. Its time to remove some advertisement.

By having lesser ads in blog, you can focus more on other optimization factor like placement, colour, etc. For adsense blogger, its not an issue. Since the more ads unit you have the more irrelevant ads are displayed.

    Yes. It is true. Google is giving more importance to Original contents nowadays. So sites with more number of ads placed are highly going to be affected when Google get over it. The reason is visitors from Google search are about to close the page as the page is highly populated with Ads. This is the reason Google is taking action against it.
