How to Choose Which Idea to Focus On

Most of the time we have a lot of idea. Having many ideas are certainly good, because it shows that our brain is still working. However having too many ideas can be quite troublesome. We must remember that ideas is left as ideas until it is implemented. From many ideas only certain idea can be implemented. Trying to implement all ideas can lead to no focus. While FOCUS is an important factor in determining the success of certain idea realization. In this short post, I'll be sharing on How I choose to work on which idea to FOCUS ON.

Idea Brainstorming 

The first step to choose for which ideas to work on, is to write it down.Having a lot of idea in our head can cluttered our mind. By writing it down we can throw everything in our mind into a piece of paper. When writing ideas, do not ever thinking about whether the ideas are logical or not, whether it can be achieve or not. Keep it simple, just write down the ideas.

Simple Pro And Cons Analysis 

After idea brainstorming , usually we will have a lot of written ideas. Time to select the idea? Not yet. A best decision is made by a person with information. Do not rush, write down Simple Pro and Cons of each idea WITHOUT comparing an idea to another idea. I usually made a simple Advantages and Disadvantages list of each idea. When writing pro and cons do not think too much. Just write down anything that pop-up in our mind. Example: If you dont know much about the idea yet, just write it at the disadvatages part - "Not Knowing Much". If you are more analytical person you can do SWOT analysis or any other decision making tool. 

Filtering

Now we should have the advatages disadvatages, pro and cons so it is easier to filter out the ideas which is cannot be done currently. We can divide the idea into categories such as REJECTED, KIV, ACCEPTABLE. 

To make the decision, take a look at the PRO and CONS. By doing this filtering, we should have a shorlisted idea which likely can be implemented. Now focus on the short listed idea. 

Methodology 

We have a shorlisted idea which can be implemented. However, to implement ideas, it should be done methodologically. Hence it is important to write down the method to achieve the ideas. By writing the method, it is easier to choose one or two short listed idea to be implemented. You can choose which idea to implement by looking at how clear the method are, how easy to achieve the target, do the method consume a lot of time and any other factor which some of it are unique to each individual. Sometimes the method are quite similar between one idea and other idea. Then "Its Killing Two Bird with One Stone"

Focus and Work on It

. 

Now we should have one or two idea with an easier or clearer implementation methodology. Stop focusing about other ideas for a while.Time to focus on the idea!
